It's amazing what strange conversations you can have with people who you don't talk to often: Brettracer: well..Italy really hasn't had a decent mofia since the 60's usf anh: oh, do you know this from experience? Brettracer: um, yes. I've been lying about my age. usf anh: ah usf anh: I see.. usf anh: that's why you're so tall! Brettracer: Now that you know, I'm going to have to send my boys down there to kill you. Brettracer: I'm sorry our friendship has to end this way... Brettracer: maybe I could just put you in seclusion in Italy for a while Brettracer: yes, that is a better idea. Brettracer: I'll give you some cows.... usf anh: can I bring some people with me? usf anh: hehe Brettracer: hmmm, maybe.

| No one knew... |

Today I saw Jenny at Target. Not a adnormal thing. Then she took me aside and told me something really really sad. When Mrs. Beck and Chris came home from church today they found that Mr. Beck had shot himself. Tramahawk was called and he was taken to St. Mary's, but he didn't make it.
No one knew. No one had any idea that he was suicidal. Jenny said holidays are hard for him, but that was it. I can't even comprehend it. Chris is 16. He just got his license. School starts tomorrow. This morning Chris probably made jokes with his dad over breakfast and tonight he's with his mom, Erica, and Matt at the Iyce's, morning over his dad's death. I wish I could talk to him, to say something to comfort him. Just to give him a hug and tell him I love him and that he will get through this.
I know he will get through it. I have no doubts. He's a great guy with an awesome heart for God. He'll turn to Him and be comforted. But I know it's still just as hard. I can't even imagine how I would have reacted.
There is a hint of good in this. Chris plays guitar for our church's band. This morning he forgot his guitar. He wanted to go home and get it after Sunday school but Ray told him not to worry about it and sit back and enjoy the service. I can't imagine what would have happened if he had gone home.
Anyone reading this who knows God, please pray for Chris and Mrs. Beck. If you know Beck and are finding this out from me first, I'm sorry you had to find out like this.

"Christmas Shoes" by New Song |
] |
The Christmas Shoes It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line Tryin? to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously Pacing round like little boys do, and in his hands he held a pair of shoes His clothes were worn and old He was dirty from head to toe And when it came his time to pay I couldn?t believe what I heard him say
(Chorus) Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my mama, please It?s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size Could you hurry, sir, Daddy said there?s not much time You see, mom?s been sick for quite a while And I know these shoes would make her smile And I want her to look beautiful if mama meets Jesus tonight
He counted pennies for what seemed like years Then the cashier said, "Son, there?s not enough here" He searched his pockets frantically, then he turned and he looked at me He said, "Mama always made Christmas good at our house, Through most years she did without Tell me, sir, what am I going to do, Somehow, I?ve got to buy these Christmas shoes." I just had to help him out And as I laid the money down I?ll never forget the look on his face When he said, "Mama?s gonna look so great."
(Repeat Chorus)
I knew I?d caught a glimpse of heaven?s love as he thanked me and ran out I knew that God had sent that little boy my way To remind me just what Christmas is all about
(Repeat Chorus)

| great poem |
[13 Dec 2001|07:13pm] |
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterflys erratic flight Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down Dont dance so fast Time is short The music wont last
Do you run through each day on the fly When you ask "How are you?" do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores running through your head?
Youd better slow down Dont dance so fast Time is short The music wont last
Ever told your child, Well do it tomorrow And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time to call and say "Hi"?
Youd better slow down Dont dance so fast Time is short The music wont last
When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away...
Life is not a race. Do take it slower Hear the music Before the song is over.

| awesome lyrics.. |
[10 Oct 2001|02:05pm] |
Did you feel the mountains tremble? Did you hear the oceans roar? When the lost began to sing of Jesus Christ the risen one
Did you feel the people tremble? Did you hear the singers roar? When the lost began to sing of Jesus Christ the saving one
We can see that God you're moving a mighty river through the nations when young and old return to Jesus fling wide you heavenly gates prepare the way of the risen Lord
Open up the doors, let the music play let the streets resound with singing Songs that bring your hope songs that bring your joy dancers who dance upon injustice
Did you feel the darkness tremble when all the saints join in one song and all the streams flow as one river to wash away our brokenness
we can see that God you're moving a time of jubilee is coming when young and old return to Jesus fling wide you heavenly gates prepare the way of the risen Lord

I heard Cademan's Call last night and got their CD. One of the songs really hit me. I love the words and they really apply. I copied 'em below.
Love is Different Words and Music by Derek Webb
Well, it looks like five thousand miles broke the camel?s back But it?s not as though I had a plan to win you back Because I don?t? know what I want But at least I know that much Now I?m afraid love came right up And it slapped me in the face, but I don?t know
?Cause love is different than you?d think It?s never in a song or on a TV screen And love is harder than a word Said at the right time and everything?s alright Love is different than you think
So I won?t expect a postcard from Trafalgar Square But I?d be lying if I said I didn?t care Because you can?t just turn it off And put a blindfold on your heart But I?m off to a good start A continent away, but I do not know
But maybe you?re the dream I?m waking from ?Cause I see you everywhere I go Darlin?, you are such a mystery to me, you know

Sometimes
Sometimes all you have is a memory, The only thing concrete left to cling to. Sometimes all you need is a friend's touch, When life falls apart at your feet.
Sometimes all you need is someone to say That they care, and they will be there. Sometimes all you need is an endearing term From someone so far removed.
Sometimes all you need is a smile, Even when tears fall like rain. Sometimes all you can do is look forward, When the life that you want has gone past.
Sometimes all you need is someone to listen, And not even really understand. Sometimes all you need a friend Who will reach out and extend their hand.
Sometimes you have all this, No matter how far the distance. Sometimes you just need see with wide eyes, And suddenly it all appears.
I hate to copy things other people have in their journals, but that poem really hit me somehow. Sorry, Lora, for stealing it. Hope you don't mind.
